The CWO Points of Unity

We, the delegates to the New Hampshire Congress of Workers' Organizations agree:

I.

That a truly legitimate government is one that is democratically controlled by the working-class majority, i.e. those who actually participate in the production and reproduction of society; that the liberal republic is based on a deceitful premise of economic freedom within a supposed meritocratic system, i.e. capitalism; that capitalist "democracy" is really only democracy for the wealthiest few, and that as such, the liberal-capitalist republic is fundamentally illegitimate.

II.

That the New Hampshire Congress of Workers' Organizations is a socialist, democratic assembly; that its purpose is to build independent working-class political power, tasked with becoming a democratically elected political-legislative body of delegates from political-economic organizations of the working-class, i.e. political parties, non-partisan political organizations, and trade/labor unions, to contest the currently governing liberal republic.

III.

That the New Hampshire Congress of Workers' Organizations is committed to assuming the responsibility for duties necessary to maintaining human life and social participation, i.e. housing, healthcare, childcare, employment, education, and all other basic needs, which the liberal republic and "free" market fail to adequately address.

IV.

That we stand for working-class internationalism; that the work of the Congress is conducted in solidarity with all of the authentic working-class movements around the world and in opposition to the exploitation, oppression, and brutality of global imperialism and colonialism.

V.

That we stand in solidarity with and are committed to the liberation of oppressed and marginalized peoples, including but not limited to women, the LGBTQIA+ community, racial and ethnic minorities, and the indigenous; that the principles of common ownership and emancipatory collectivity necessitate the preservation and restitution of indigenous lands, aiming for a socially just model of land use that transcends the capitalist paradigm of exploitative ownership, furthermore advocating for a mode of stewardship that respects communal integrity and the ecological balance of the land.

VI.

That we stand with industrial unionism, especially militant class-unionism, which we recognize and emphasize as essential to the revolutionary working-class movement; that organized labor is the front line of class struggle and is most fundamental to the practice of revolutionary workers' organizations, while opposing the degenerative revisionist tendencies of economic business unionism, which plague the existing American unions and must be excised.

VII.

That environmental stewardship is a priority; that the capitalist system has not only demonstrated a complete inability to address the severity of the ecological crisis but is primarily responsible for it; that a socialist system and sustainable economic planning is the only solution to ecological devastation, climate change, and the existential threat to humanity itself; that, as such, the issue is intrinsically linked to social-economic justice.

VIII.

That the transformation of society and economy also necessitates the transformation of the consciousness and ethical principles of the revolutionary working-class; that capitalism has festered a culture of harmful commodification, consumerism, individualism, selfishness, bigotry, and division, which must be totally overhauled with communal collectivity and mutual-aid at the center; that capitalist social alienation is fundamentally responsible for the exponential rise of depression, apathy, nihilism, and mental illness, preventing the vast majority of working people from achieving self-actualization, which can only be remedied by a socialist reconstruction of everyday life.

IX.

That healthcare and housing are fundamental human rights and not commodities to be bought and sold at the expense of the working majority; that landlordism and insurance schemes are parasitic elements that purely extract value from workers without creating any value for the production and reproduction of society, thus being entirely exploitative; that the work of the Congress is dedicated to maximising access to, and minimizing costs of healthcare and housing.

X.

That the prevailing punitive justice system perpetuates a cycle of violence and social alienation, disproportionally impacting marginalized and working-class communities, and prioritise retribution over rehabilitation and economic exploitation over community healing; that a shift toward restorative justice models, which focus on repairing the harm done to victims and communities rather than merely punishing offenders, emphasise collective responsibility, seeks to address the systemic issues that often underlie individual acts of harm, and aims for reconciliation and mutual understanding is the only viable alternative to barbaric and profit-driven private prisons and their commodification of punishment.

XI.

That economic democracy is the cornerstone of a just and equitable society ,defined as the collective ownership and democratic management of economic institutions by the working-class, as opposed to capitalist economy; which concentrates economic power in the hands of a few and exercises autocracy in the workplace; that democracy must begin in the workplace, through unions, cooperatives, and other forms of working-class based associations, as a fundamental principle of a socialist society; that the work of the Congress is oriented toward maximizing the political participation of the working majority by conduction democracy in the workplace, which is crucial to the abolition of exploitation.

XII.

That we vehemently oppose fascism in all of its forms; that fascism today is a real and serious threat to the working-class and democracy in general, and is the direct result of the decaying capitalist system and its recurring crises; that fascism, whether manifested within the state or within reactionary petit-bourgeois movements, gangs, or paramilitary organizations, must be combated and annihilated by all means necessary.
